Sleeping Beauty Pantomime (2012)

I worked with Rod Holt on the Sleeping Beauty Pantomime at the Salisbury Playhouse in November 2012. As most of the larger pieces had been painted over the summer, I was mostly in charge of painting the large number of smaller items that were being made for the show and doing an extensive amount of glittering, both of which I loved.

After plotting out the coordinates, we used snaplines and chalk to draw up the design

We tried to copy the style of the pen as accurately as we could and carefully measured out any opaque or translucent areas.

Cabaret (2013)

I was HOD Scenic Art for this production of Cabaret in the Embassy Theatre (RCSSD).

The main feature for this set was the painted floor, that had a criss-cross of train tracks, drawn in an expressionist ink penned style. Under a UV light, the pattern revealed itself to be a swastika, creating an eerie, dramatic effect.

We worked together with Julie's Bicycle, an organization that helps companies in the entertainment industry track and reduce their carbon footprint, to set a precedent for responsible sourcing and waste management for the shows done at our university.

Cuddles: A Vampire's Tale (2013)

This debut play by Joseph Wilde at the Ovalhouse Theatre was designed by James Turner.

The scene is a children's nursery that has been plastered over with old newspaper and distressed by spattering, sponging and scratching off layers of newspaper.

The main protagonist has been living in this room, believing that she is a vampire, for a long time and creating a dilapidated and disgusting feeling was very important.

On The Razzle (2011)
Classical Acting Showcase at the Royal Central School of Speech and Drama's Embassy Theatre.
The design was inspired by 1930s expressionist ink drawings and features a revolve that divided the stage into 3 settings.
Imitating the ink and pen strokes on aged paper was key to the look of the show.
