Robyn Kahn-Cleland: painter and craftsman.​



Although I'm an American and a UK citizen, I grew up in Luxembourg and finished secondary school at the Lycée de Garçons de Luxembourg in the art section. This gave me the opportunity to learn a few languages and explore my love of art and painting.

I have always wanted to paint professionally, which is what lead me to scenic art and commissioned painting while still at school. After secondary school, I worked as a resident scenic artist at Mad Dog Productions and at the Renton Civic Theatre in Washington State, USA, from 2008 till 2010. This is where I cut my teeth as a scenic artist. My time in Seattle and the amount I learnt there is very dear to me.

Wanting to learn as much as I could about the craft, I did the BA (Hons) Theatre Practice - Scenic Art course at the Royal Central School of Speech and Drama in London and graduated in 2013. While studying, I was able to work on a variety of productions, ranging from big to small and enjoy taking on new challenges all the time. I've done work for Punchdrunk, The Watford Palace Theatre, The Salisbury Playhouse, The Conran Shop, The Theatre Royal Drury Lane and The Ovalhouse Theatre to name a few.

Although my experience is mostly in theatre, I have also done film, events, private commissions, murals and love just about anything to do with paint. I always strive to unpick exactly what a client or a designer wants in order to deliver a piece that everyone loves. I'm currently living in London and Luxembourg, and enjoy travelling, so I'm very flexible about where I work, Whether in the UK or the rest of Europe, I'm more than happy to come to you, especially for murals or private commissions, or even just a consultation!
